Two generations, one promise.

Spencer Law Group is led by a mother and daughter, two partners who share a commitment to treating every client, and every client’s family, with respect and dignity.

Gwendolyn J. Spencer, Esq.

FOUNDING PARTNER · BASED IN TALLAHASSEE

A social worker’s heart, a lawyer’s precision.

Gwendolyn J. Spencer brings a rare blend of public service, social work, and legal experience to Spencer Law Group, the firm she founded in 1996. She earned her Bachelor of Science from Florida State University, her Master of Social Work from the University of Connecticut, and her Juris Doctor from the University of Iowa College of Law.

Her career began in service to families. After completing her master’s degree, she worked as a school social worker for the Hartford Public Schools in Connecticut. She later returned to Florida, where she served as an analyst for the Department of Community Affairs and then for the Governor’s Cabinet Affairs Office. She went on to direct the Governor’s Energy Office, where she managed a $1.5 million trust fund.

After law school, Gwendolyn coordinated discovery for IES Industries, Inc. in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, in multimillion-dollar insurance recovery litigation. She then came home to Florida and opened her own practice, building it around estate planning, probate and trust administration, and guardianship. Her daughter, Gennah White, later joined the firm and grew with it, and today the two practice together as partners.

Gwendolyn’s background in social work shapes the way she practices law. She understands that legal matters involving aging parents, incapacity, or the loss of a loved one are rarely just legal matters. She listens carefully, explains options clearly, and helps families make sound decisions during some of the most difficult moments of their lives.

Alongside her practice, she has shared her experience with the next generation. At Florida A&M University’s Department of Social Work, she taught students and later served as Director of the MSW Program.

Gwendolyn is based in Tallahassee, where she continues to serve families throughout North Florida and the Panhandle.

Gwendolyn is a member of The Florida Bar, admitted in 1995, and an inactive member of the Illinois Bar. Her Florida Bar membership includes the Elder Law Section, the Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section, and the Estate Planning Committee. She has served on numerous boards and currently serves on the board of the Florida A&M University Federal Credit Union.

Outside the office, Gwendolyn enjoys reading and crafting. She is married and the mother of two daughters.

Gennah White, Esq.

PARTNER · BASED IN TAMPA BAY

She learned this firm from the ground up.

A Tallahassee native, Gennah White earned both her undergraduate degree and her Juris Doctor from Florida State University. Admitted to The Florida Bar in 2012, she brings more than a decade of experience to her practice in estate planning, probate and trust administration, and guardianship.

Gennah’s path at Spencer Law Group is one few attorneys can claim. Her mother, Gwendolyn J. Spencer, founded the firm in 1996, and Gennah grew up inside it. She started as a volunteer, then worked as an intern, a legal assistant, and an associate before becoming a partner. Each role taught her a different part of how the firm works, from the first phone call with a worried family to the final order closing an estate. That experience shapes how she practices today. She understands that the paperwork matters, and so does the person on the other side of the desk who is often grieving, overwhelmed, or facing a hard decision about someone they love.

Gennah believes good planning is an act of care, and she works to make the process clear, calm, and manageable. She takes time to explain each step in plain language, so families know what to expect and why it matters. Whether she is drafting a will or trust, guiding a personal representative through probate, or helping a family establish a guardianship, her goal is the same: to protect what her clients have built and the people they love.

Today, Gennah is based in the Tampa Bay area and brings the firm’s personal, family-centered approach to clients throughout Central Florida, while continuing to serve families in the Panhandle and across the state.

Gennah is a member of The Florida Bar’s Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section.

Outside the office, Gennah is a wife and mother of five who knows firsthand how much families juggle. She enjoys volunteering with Feeding Tampa Bay, helping at her children’s schools, and entertaining.
